Decree No. 100/2019/NĐ-CP dated 30th December, 2019 of Government promulgating the “Administrative penalties for road traffic offences and rail transport offences”

On December 30th, 2019, the Government issued Decree No. 100/2019/ NĐ-CP on “Administrative penalties for road traffic offences and rail transport offences”

This Decree replaces Decree 46/2016/NĐ-CP, effective from January 1st, 2020, which provides a much higher fines for traffic violations. 

In particular, the new Decree increases the maximum penalty for violations of the regulations on alcohol content. Specifically: for drivers of cars violating the highest alcohol content, a fine of from VND 30-40 million, deprivation of the right to use driving licenses for 22-24 months for drivers of high-concentration vehicles. alcohol content exceeds 80 milligrams per 100 milliliters of blood or exceeds 0.4 milligrams per liter of breathing air.

This Decree takes effect from January 1st, 2020
